Ready for More Vitality in Your Life?
For the past twelve years, Plant-Based Cooking's Diane Smith has been helping people regain their health by eating a whole food plant-based diet with recipes and articles to help them make the transition.
Lower Risk of All-Cause Mortality
People eating a whole-food, plant-based diet live longer, happier lives, in fact, they had 25% lower risk of all‐cause mortality! (1)
That's why you'll want to eat a diet that includes an abundance of FRESH FRUITS and VEGETABLES, LEGUMES, WHOLE GRAINS, NUTS, and SEEDS, but NO DAIRY or EGGS and VERY LITTLE or NO MEAT or PROCESSED OIL. There are other views on healthy eating, but the more I read, the more I know that this is THE way to eat. Read my full article, "The Basics: Your Guide to a Whole Food Plant-Based Diet," to get the full picture and how-tos.
My Core Beliefs
These have been my beliefs for many years based on what I know to be true, that...
- Health is our greatest wealth!
- The body can heal itself in many instances.
- Plant foods help the body heal.
- It's best to eat organic and non-GMO foods. Read my article, Does Organic Really Matter?
I hope you're open to the power of the right food to help you heal.

Take Small Steps
I know it's hard to give up the habits we love. Give it time - take little steps, and before you know it, you'll be enjoying the bounty of beautiful, plant-based foods that're available everywhere today.
When I started this website, I wanted to find delicious plant-food recipes that were as satisfying as the fattening, hormone-laden, artery-clogging bad foods I used to eat, like cheese and meat. I'm excited to say that it's working for me. I love eating this new way.
But that's not to say that I don't struggle or have down days at times. The main thing is, DON'T GIVE UP! I'm here to guide, motivate, and support you. You know that you'll be healthier and happier.
Get Started
To start eating a plant-based diet, click on the Start Here page, the Got Questions? page, or the Why Eat Plants? page. You can also subscribe to my weekly newsletter if you'd like to receive updates in your inbox.
Eat your fruits and veggies - at least if you want to be free of excess fat and most Western diseases, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease. It may even help you stay younger as you age. I'm on a quest to eat less meat and make vegetables more interesting. I hope you'll join me.

"I’m new to the wfpb world. I’ve searched ( and I do mean searched!) many sites to find the support I need on my health journey. I’m grateful to have found yours. It has been the most helpful in providing me with clear, step-by-step instructions on how to succeed. Your recipes are simple and delicious. My family enjoys them too! Thank you for your website." Your website is beautiful…I can’t imagine it any other way! It’s fresh, clean, and easy to navigate. I’m pleased to see how focused you are and can imagine you are building a solid foundation of many good things to change people’s lives. This planet needs it!
Hi Diane, love your website! Great job! Very excited to start my plant based diet and hopefully get my hubby on board.
Thanks! I’m so excited for you, as well. Best of luck with your journey and your husband’s.
Could you set up a complete School Week Lunch and Snack Plan? I would like to have some ideas for Teenagers that like to eat, eat and eat….
Easy to prepare in the morning! and no cooler needed, Thanks.
Hi Silvia, Great suggestion. I’m working on a 7-day plant-based meal plan right now, but this is a good idea and, it sounds like, most definitely needed! Don’t know when it’ll be available, but I’m going to put it on my list. I recently posted this link on my Facebook page. Maybe this will help in the meantime, “10 Vegan Lunchbox Ideas.”
